"Where do I start?" is the question we hear most often from students who are looking for funding. The range of scholarship and grant resources available to undergraduates at the University of Iowa can be overwhelming. To help students narrow the field and shake off the paralysis that so often happens at beginning of any funding search, we've pulled together a list of resources to help applicants kick start their search.
The University of Iowa's Scholarship Portal (ISP) is a new resource which allows prospective, admitted, and current students to search our database of available scholarships.
After completing the required general scholarship profile, you may be presented with “Recommended” opportunities for which you MAY be eligible. Recommended opportunities are typically going to be a combination of general scholarships (open to all students) and departmental/collegiate awards (restricted to students within a specific major, field of study or who belong to distinct academic communities on campus).
While many of the opportunities listed in the ISP only ask prospective applicants to complete a general scholarship profile to be matched with and considered for an award, others require that students complete supplemental application PLEASE NOTE: Students are expected to read the criteria and instructions for each award thoroughly before submitting any supplemental application materials through the ISP.
Stanley Undergraduate Awards for International Research│ For undergraduates, these short-term awards can be a "first step" to international experiences abroad that can help you get valuable contacts for Fulbright, Boren, DAAD, and other awards! Students need not be U.S. Citizens to be eligible. These awards support independent research or fieldwork projects on international topics that require travel abroad (may in some cases be used in conjunction with a Study Abroad program) │Visit the Stanley Undergraduate Awards for International Research for more information.
