Go in Sign Language

Learn how to sign go in ASL (American Sign Language). You can use it running, walking, and even driving. Time to go!

1. Extend both pointer fingers and gently rest the rest of your fingers in the palms of each hand.
2. Start with hands back towards the body, pointer fingers point up.
3. Move your hands in an arc forward to the direction you want to go (forward, or to the left or the right).

Teaching Tips – to learn how to sign go in ASL

• Learning sign language is fun when there’s lots of movement involved! Play a modified game of Red Light-Green Light. Say, “Green Light! Go!” and sign go. When you say “Red Light! Stop!”, sign stop. Alternate back and forth using the signs each time. For the next level up, you can also sign red and green!
• Each time you need to transition to a new location, let your child know it is time to go, and use the sign to support the concept.
